Meaning of Christmas

Christmas is...

Christmas is celebrated every year, recognizing the birth of baby Jesus.

Christmas brings families and friends together from all over the world.

Often people come together assist those in need, as it is a time for caring and a time for sharing.

Share a Christmas tradition that you participate in.

What does Christmas mean to you?

But is Christmas just one day a year???

  4. Christmas has many meanings for me. Some good - some not so much.
I think that the great noise the the stores make about buying presents and getting presents is actually sad. While it is nice to get a present, I think it is much better to find ways to put a smile on the faces of people around us - all kinds of people. Family for sure - and I guess that is where presents do come in, but also putting a smile on the faces of friends and more importantly, people we don't know is what Christmas really is about. I like the earlier comments about sharing. We all have so much and sharing with those that don't have so much is a great thing to do.
I think that is the real meaning of Christmas - it is a day set aside to remind us that we should share and be gentle with each other every day of the year.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and my wish for you in the new year is that you smile every day.

  6. A Christmas tradition I participate in is, every christmas eve we all sit around with a hot chocolate and read the christmas story of Jesus. Then we are aloud to open one gift but we know what the gift is it is a new pair of pjs. Christmas means to me that a long time ago a baby was born to come to the world to be our Savour and a way to eternal life. It also means that it is a time to celebrate His birth and be with family and friends. Is Christmas just one day to me? From what I said about what Christmas means to me, Christmas isn't just one day, it should be all the time with thinking about Jesus and spending time with family and friends, having fun having a happy spirit being kind and enjoying the season.
