Anything is Possible

Don't be bound by limits you impose on yourself.

Anything is possible.

Is there anything that you have tried that you didn't think was possible? Describe this situation to us...

  1. Thank you so much to our student Sorel for sharing this week's discussion topic.

As we go through life, we come across many things that challenge us in a variety of ways. To me, the key is not being afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Through my experience, if I believe in myself, I find that I am more successful and that things are possible.

As a teacher, I also get to witness amazing examples of this. One situation completely comes to mind. I was a Sports Academy teacher, and I had a student that was afraid of heights. Through out the course of the year, we went rock climbing, did gymnastics, and many other activities that were beyond his comfort or limits (so he thought). Little by little I encouraged him to step beyond his comfort zone...he went on the low balance beam, he climbed up 3 rocks...At the end of the year, we went to a week long outdoor camp. All the students were doing a height challenge that promoted team work and collaboration. Harnessed in, they had to get all of their team mates to the top of a 30 foot pole and stand on a platform. This student, met his fear and exceeded the personal limits he set on himself. He climbed...crawled...clawed to the top of the platform as all of his peers cheered him on, telling him that they believed in him. He made it to the top of the pole and his peers lifted him up to the platform, holding him tightly. He believed in himself. He went beyond the limits he had set for himself. His peers believed in him. The end result was amazing. He was soooo excited and pumped. His smile was such an amazing moment to witness. After that week, it was neat to see he had a new outlook on facing challenges and was up to tackle many. Anything is possible.

  2. As we go through life, we are faced with challenges and opportunities. It is important to embrace the opportunities and work through the challenges. Much can be learned about yourself in this way.

The elephant reminds me of my fear of deep water and that I never thought I would be able to snorkel in the ocean away from land. I tried it! ~ IT WAS FANTASTIC!! ~ The creatures I saw were amazing! Would I do it again? Absolutely!! .... And I have! ... If I had never tried to snorkel I would have missed out on this incredible experience. Now, I have thoughts to one day try scuba diving. Anything really is possible!

  4. I'm glad you like the picture Nick. I did too! It shows the elephant doing something that he probably didn't think he could do. But he just gave it a try! Now he represents the power of 'trying'...... letting people know that you will never be able to do something unless you 'try', especially if it is something you really would like to do. There is a saying: " If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!"
